Solvent Palm Kernel Cake

General Description

Palm kernel cake is a by-product of the oil industry. There are two types of palm kernel cake: mechanical extraction (known as expeller extraction) or solvent extraction. In the latter, the final product contains around 2% fat and a maximum protein content of 12 to 14%. Its low fat content gives it two important advantages: less risk of rancidity and greater palatability.

Use

Palm kernel cake mainly provides fiber in a rationIt can be
used in poultry farmingespecially in laying hensswine production, and cattle.
 
The maximum recommended intake of palm kernel cake for 
cattle is 6 kg per day.
 Its use in broilers is limited due to its
low metabolizable energy. In swine production, its
inclusion should not exceed 20%.
